Michael A. Sheets

Mr. Sheets was born and raised in Greene County, Ohio. He attended the University of Dayton, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1987, with a Major in Finance and a Minor in English. He began his legal education that year at the U. D. School of Law. While there, he worked as a law clerk for the Greene County Domestic Relations Court.

Upon graduation in 1990 he began practicing with Attorney James D. Piergies in Moraine, Ohio. The Piergies & Sheets law firm practiced primarily in the areas of criminal and family law, working closely with Local 775 and Local 801 union members from the G.M. and Chrysler plants. Mike and Jim were later joined in their practice by A. J. Wagner. The firm dissolved in 1993, with Mr. Sheets purchasing it and going into practice by himself. Mr. Piergies and Mr. Wagner moved into the political arena, and are now both judges: Jim Piergies in District 2 Court in Huber Heights, and A.J. Wagner in the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

Mr. Sheets moved his practice to it’s present location on Woodman Drive in 1993. In addition, from 1995 to 2000, Mr. Sheets practiced in the firm of Wolaver, Graf, Gill & Sheets in Fairborn, Ohio. Mr. Sheets’ experience in criminal and family law and civil litigation was greatly enhanced through his work with these well-known and respected Greene County attorneys. Mr. Graf and Mr.Gill have since retired, while Steve Wolaver was elected Judge in the Greene County Common Pleas Court in 2002.

Mr. Sheets is a member of the Dayton and Greene County Bar Associations. He is a past member of the Greene County Bar Ethics and Grievance Committee. He is a member of the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and is licensed to practice in all Ohio state courts, as well as U.S. Federal Courts.
